Decorating for the Holidays on a Budget + a Life Update

Hi!!!Happy Fall aka the greatest season of all time.I thought I'd jump in today to share how I decorate our porch & apartment for fall (and holidays in general) on a budget.

Have a Guide & Vision Before You Start

I purchased my sweet friend, Kristin of Joyful Mornings, Fall Nesting Guide & The Daily Tidy which you can find on her site here. This helped me plan and focus on color scheme, textures, and overall vision, which is perfect for me who is easily overwhelmed and can impulse-buy my way through any T.J. Maxx.Cost: $10

Repurposing & Thrifting

I love reusing what I already have or checking thrift stores before I go to places like Target/Marshalls/etc. to find seasonal goodies. I talked more about this in my most recent Youtube video here: Fall Apartment TourItems I reused from the last two years:Wreath:  I used this as a base then filled it with flowers and faux eucalyptus and pampas grass I found hereFaux White Pumpkins: small // largeWelcome Mat: this item was custom made and gifted to me from the etsy shop Molin & Co.Cost: $20

Investing in Evergreen Items

I found a few items that will work for fall & carry into Christmas decor as well, so cost-per-use is worth it to me.  Honestly, the candles and faux greenery have year-round usability so it's an even bigger plus. I'm not huge into items with little sayings on them, and we have a small space with very little storage, so I am always looking for things that can be re-styled and used continually versus putting away a bunch of "fall decor" and then pulling out a million Christmas things.  I also purchased this emerald pillow (this one is cute too!) and cream throw that will carry me into winter & Boo is also obsessed with it so.Cost: $30

Focusing on Florals & Greenery:

I am so fortunate to live near a Produce Junction, so I got all of my mums, real pumpkins, kale, and flowers for my wreath for under $50. You can check their site to see if you have one nearby, or look for a local farm stand, farmers market, or shop that sells at a dicsounted rate.I'm wondering if Steve has any interest in a pumpkin carving date-night-in so we can maximize their use before all of the squirrels get to them? I'm gonna vote absolutely not.Cost: $40

In Sum:

Have a general plan/budget before you shop, repurpose and thrift when possible, invest in items to carry through multiple seasons or be used year round, think about cost-per-use, and focus on things like pretty florals and greenery if you're going to spend the money.I would love to hear how you stay in budget to decorate, so comment below if you have any additonal insights!

Life Lately:

  • Shannen moved to Arizona!!! So excited for her, but I cried the whole way home from the airport lol.

  • Molly came to visit for a wedding & we had fun styling an outfit for her from my closet, getting our nails done, and going to brunch with my mom over the weekend.

  • Also: I'm heading to Ireland with Blessed is She in November and I cannot wait to go to my homeland!!!!! Let me know if you have any recs, must-see places, and ideas about what to wear. Much appreciated.

xo,Katie
