DevaCurl Haircut Before & After + Locals Discount
Hey friends! Today I am sharing one of my most helpful hair tips-- getting the right cut. In case you missed it, I previously shared my favorite products here and methods for daily care here. In this post you'll find links to all products used, as well as before and after photos of my Devacurl haircut. Every salon I've ever been to cuts my hair the same way they cut hair for people with straight locks. First, wet the hair and cut the ends. Then, add layers until dogs-of-instagram-poodle-style or triangle-hair is achieved. Don't even get me started on the time my mom brought me to a sketchy cheapo place and "the stylist" said, "Hold on, honey, I'm going to get a brush to comb this before we shampoo."BEFORE WE SHAMPOO.BEFOREWESHAMPOONope, BYEEEE.My mom pulled me out of that chair faster than you can say "take me now, Sweet Jesus." and I love to bring up The Incident anytime she says something like, "when have I ever steered you wrong?"My hair wasn't HORRIBLE, unless we count every school photo ever, including the truly horrendous year I wanted the smoothed-out no-bump ponytail like all the other girls. Also the hand-on-the-chin-in-overalls year.Since discovering the proper cut, things have changed for the better. Bad hair days are still very, very real but I no longer hate my natural hair, because it looks and feels good even in the imperfections. Praise The Lord. Two popular curly-hair methods of cutting are the Ouidad method & the DevaCurl method. My hair has been cut using both and I love them both equally. If you are considering a curly-specific cut I would say go for it! You will not regret it. If you do regret it I will refund you. Just kidding, I'm poor, but you should still do it.Currently my hair is being cut using the DevaCurl method by my amazing stylist, Angela Stone, at Esthetica Salon & Spa in Northfield. Local friends, if you haven't been to see Angela at Esthetica, mention that Katie Waldow sent you when you book with her and you'll receive $20 off your service of $45 or more! Ok, pictures.
