Fall in Ocean City, NJ and Our Life Lately

ocean city njI'm pretty sure fall is my favorite time of year in Ocean City. The weather is perfect, all the visitors are gone, and the sky and beach are beautiful as ever. If you've never been you should totally add it to your list of must-see places. Here's a little snippet of life, lately.

1. Steve started nursing school.

& I am so excited for him and proud of this MAJOR accomplishment.  Classes began a few weeks ago, and it's already proving to be rigorous and rewarding. Also, he wears these red scrubs to class and he is just so cute and I told him I needed to take a photo for posterity. And then I sent it in the family group chat lolololol. I can't wait to have yet another loved one as my personal WebMd resource.red scrubs nursing student

2. Fall weddings!

We have two upcoming & y'all know I love a good wedding. Steve's cousin Chrissy's is this weekend(!!!) in New York at Steve's home parish and it is BEAUTIFUL! My cousin Patrick & his sweet bride-to-be, Maggie are tying the knot the following week. I am super excited & honored to be singing their wedding Mass, so I can't wait! (Insert Kristin Wiig party voice.)

3. The WEATHER.

It's finally seemed to turn from humid desolation to glorious fall here, and I am ALL ABOUT IT. Steve and I had a rare evening together so we took Jose for a walk, and it was so perfect. I always love walking around our neighborhood because so many of the houses are beautiful, with the best gardens and greener, and sunset on the bay is AMAZING. 4. Work things.

I updated the youth room a bit. Proof:youth room reno youth room reno I've been pretty busy this month, but it hasn't been overwhelming and I'm thankful. OCYM fall edition is back with a new class of Confirmation candidates, and they are the absolute best. The weddings I worked through September were gorgeous (although sometimes rainy), and I'm still loving to save all the things as Pinterest Coordinator for Blessed is She. Come follow us on Pinterest if you don't already! In the blog realm, I've been grateful to work on a few collaborations with Lindt Chocolate, Yankee Candle, Mass Eden skincare, Glossier, Brick House in the City, and Catholic Relief Services. I have a few upcoming posts featuring something fun from Reebok, my fave coffee ever, La Colombe, and a collaboration with Smile Brilliant; so be on the lookout for those to pop up soon!

5. Books & stuff.

lethal white robert galbraith The last two books I read were this one & this one, and I really enjoyed them both. They are not the most uplifting, you've been warned. I'm in the middle of the newest Cormoran Strike novel, which is possibly my favorite series. I've also been rereading Harry Potter, so there's that. If you have anything you love you're currently reading let me know in the comments! I'm trying to make my goal of 20 books before the new year! As for music, Lil' Wayne, Ike Ndolo, and Tori Kelly all have new music out so I've got some listening to do. In the podcast realm Serial Season 3 is back, and it's all about the Cleveland court system. I wasn't that excited reading the description, but it's surprisingly interesting in the three episodes I've listened to.

6. Little house updates.

I finally finished the hutch! I found the perfect little knobs on sale at Anthropologie! They have a ton of beautiful options for any style, so I would definitely check them out. So happy to replace all the ugly ones from before. 7. 100 Miles by Halloween Challenge

Steve so kindly gifted me an Apple Watch for my 31st birthday, and it's been amazing. It has a little activity app that encourages you to close all three rings for the day - Move, Stand & Exercise. And I am competitive, even with my own self, so it's been super motivating to want to close all three rings every day. In September I  joined a few friends in trying to complete 100 Miles by Halloween (about 1.6 a day, or more/less depending on how you want to divide it), and so far it's going well. I am a little behind, but hoping to carve out more time in the coming weeks and finish strong! I did not grow up exercising regularly or being part of sports, besides cheerleading and a very brief stint with lacrosse, so having accountability partners and little short-term goals is so helpful in my fitness journey. That's about it here at House Waldow! Hope you are having a great week, and start to October!xo,Katie
