7 Quick Takes: A-Themed Edition

Hey hey hey! It's time for me to link up with Kelly for another 7 Quick Takes because why not? Today's edition is A-themed since most of this week revolves around animals, allergies, and acupuncture so I figure I'll just keep going.

1. Acupuncture

I ventured out to try acupuncture for the first time this week, and I was not disappointed. There were so many moments leading up to the initial appointment where I thought about things like: What do the needles feel like? Do they hurt? Can you wear clothes? Is there a discussion or do I just chill? A: NO, the needles don't hurt, you mostly feel the little tube used to administer said needles pressing on your skin. Yes, you can wear your clothes. In terms of the convo, we discussed the focus of the particular session, and then I was left alone to float into blissful serenity for the next million minutes, to the soundtrack of something probably titled Calm Ocean Waves and Other Serene Bodies of Water. The most difficult and best part of the whole thing: being still and alone. I do not like either of these things, so I think it will be a wonderful exercise in the art of meditation, going deeper in prayer, and focusing on being over doing. That being said, if you have anything that has helped you (books, articles, exercises) with your prayer and meditation, I'd love your recommendations. My next appointment is in a week and I need to have a plan in place otherwise my brain will continue to go something like this: DearLordToDoListWorkThingBackHurtsFamilyDramaDon'tForgetOnionsFootItchingNoseItchingCatsDidITurnOfftheOvenBlogIdeasExercisePlanNachosTequila Amen.Anyway, 10/10 would recommend. Here is the only photo I took because needles in my arms and stuff:

2. Allergies

Since May I have been suffering debilitating allergies for first time in my life. IN MY LIFE. The only thing that I've ever reacted to previously is dust, but this spring I began having 4-5 allergy attacks a month. They are seemingly caused by absolutely nothing, and usually ruin my entire day. When I tell you I am sneezing from 9am - 9pm I am not exaggerating. Also, no amount of Claritin or nasal spray can save me. I initially thought it might have to do with my hormones, because they happen on certain days of my cycle. I know it sounds weird, but I read somewhere that estrogen can increase histamine?? Might I also note that I am not a medical doctor and the article could've been from some weirdo blog like this one and what I'm saying has no merit, but I digress. To the allergist I went. I am allergic to dust (knew it), tree pollen and DOG.Don't worry, Josie isn't going anywhere. I am just searching Amazon for a billion items like this air purifier, extra vacuums, and covers for our mattress and pillows. LOVE IT. Good news is, not allergic to cats which is amazing because that brings me to the next thing:

3. Animals

We got a kitten named Boo, which I have posted extensively about on instagram. Lucky you, I am here to give you a Kitten Photo Dump and more info about this little lady. She is really sweet, and also a holy terror when hyper. Josie is obsessed with her, she thinks Josie is her mom, and Luna hates everyone right now, so business as usual. Boo's favorite pastimes include:

  • Eating houseplants
  • Swatting Josie while she eats
  • Sliding across the floor in shoes
  • Trying to get murdered by tangling herself in various cords
  • Scaling our legs while we eat breakfast
  • Jumping into boxes, bags and baskets

Her least favorite things are:

  • Alone time
  • Sleeping when you are trying to get work done
  • Water
  • Being removed from the houseplant
  • Did I say sleeping?

OK, kitten photo spam:

4. Athletics:

LOLZ. But really, inspired by a friend to start walking, I made a goal to do some form of exercise every single day for at least ten minutes. Since Sept. 20th I have only missed my daily goal once, but I'm averaging about a 2-3 mile walk with strength training thrown in. It has been wonderous for my soul. Having a walking partner helps. Winter should be interesting.I'll keep you posted.

5. Glossier (pronounced Gloss-ee-AY)

Get it??? Gloss-ee- AAAAAAAAA. A-themed.It counts. As some of you know I am a rep for the G, because I love so many of their products. I'm popping this in because they are launching their perfume this month and for the next two weeks every order comes with a sample of it while supplies last. You also get 20% off your entire first order if you shop with me. I've written a whole blog post on my faves if you aren't familiar with the brand or want to know where to start. Adding to that post I've since purchased and love the Wowder Duo and Priming Moisturizer.  This set will save you a few bucks if you are interested in the cleanser, moisturizer and balm. I really love the un-makeup makeup look Glossier provides, and I use the Milky Jelly Cleanser and Super Glow religiously. It's good stuff. Also, founder Emily Weiss was the intern on The Hills. Love that show, RIP.

6. Anthropologie

Anyone else like to look at a bunch of Christmas gifts in October as if you're going to plan and purchase in a timely manner but really you Amazon Prime everything two days before you need it? Same. I know this A-theme is starting to be a stretch, but I love Anthro for gifts so here are a few of my favorite things I'm hoping to get gift this season.

7. Autumn

I put the heat on in my car for the first time today and I am not mad about it. Maybe I can finally make a batch of pumpkin bread or chili with true joy. Dramatic, I know. Mailing it in on this last one to say that if you haven't seen my cozy fall playlist you can find it here and follow along. OK thanks for making it to the end with me.Happy Friday!
