Easy Thanksgiving Table Setting + Our Vegan Menu
Hi, friends!I can't believe Thanksgiving in on Thursday, life is flying by. Ha! Anyway, I got an email from Erica of Be a Heart this morning, with a link to download her free place cards for your Thanksgiving table, and this blog post was born. Today I am sharing a SUPER easy Thanksgiving table setting and our vegan menu plan! Also, this whole setting cost me about $50 total for 8 plates, so it's affordable & painless.
Easy Thanksgiving Table Setting
Download Free Place Cards
Find them here on Erica's website.
Chargers & Napkins
I found the gold chargers at the Dollar Store, so they were $8 plus tax in total. The napkins were on clearance at Pier One Imports for $2.48 each, and they had really cute plaid napkins, too, if you have different patterned china than I do.
Use Your Favorite Fancy Dishes
These are our wedding dishes, and I use them as often as possible because I love them so much. They are Kate Spade and you can find them right here.
Add Flowers or Greenery
We have a Produce Junction close by, so it was super easy to put a cheap bouquet together. You could also add just a little bit of greenery, or make a full-on floral centerpiece depending on your tastes. I used the cinnamon pine cones that are all over my house to hold up the place card, but you can find craft pine cones at Michael's or Hobby Lobby, or use something simpler like a sprig of greenery or a little pumpkin. You can also throw all of that out the window, place the card on top of the napkin, and call it a day.It was so fun and simple to make these, and I'm excited for the little bit of beauty it will add to our table this year. Now for the F O O D.
Our Vegan Menu
Here's what I'm planning to bring to my family's house for dinner:
- Biscuits from Minimalist Baker- her most recent post has 104 Thanksgiving recipes if you need even more inspo. I love all of her recipes.
- Roasted carrots
- Roasted Brussels and butternut squash, with cranberry & pecans- I season and roast all of these in the oven & then put them together in a casserole dish to serve. This is a great recipe to follow if you need step-by-step instructions.
- Stuffing - I purchased the Arrowhead Mills organic savory herb stuffing, and I'm adding chopped onion, olive oil or earth balance butter, and Imagine's No Chicken broth. I'm planning to use this for the stuffed mushroom appetizer, and keep some on the side for dinner.
- Mashed sweet potatoes
- Kale Caesar salad- I use this recipe for caesar dressing then chop up kale, romaine and cucumbers, and then toss it all together. If you have extra time the roasted chickpea croutons are a great addition.
- Green bean casserole- Pinterest has a ton of recipe options for this. I'm planning to use mushrooms sautéed in cashew cream in lieu of cream of mushroom soup.
- Stuffed mushrooms - I bake the scooped mushrooms for 10 minutes at 350, fill with the stuffing mixture, bake for another 15 minutes, then drizzle with olive oil and top with nutritional yeast.
- Mikoyo's cheese, hummus & chips- I'll be bringing this for appetizer time.
- Jewish Apple Cake - you can find my recipe for this here on the blog. It is my fav-o-rite dessert. The recipe is gluten-free, but I am using all-purpose flour and keeping it gluten full because that's my favorite way to eat it.
I hope this gives you a few ideas if you're dairy free, gluten free, vegan, or hosting any guests that may have food allergies. Wishing you the warmest holiday filled with elastic waistbands and minimal arguments about politics, religion, and any other hot-button issue Aunt Ethel wants to bring up like Kids These Days And Their Technology. If you'd like to see more posts like this straight to your inbox, you can subscribe here.
