ILIA Beauty Review: Clean Makeup that Highlights You
I shared on my Instagram & 2020 Gift Guide that ILIA's Multi-Stick in At Last was my favorite beauty buy of 2020. After trying a few more items from their line, I'm here with my full ILIA beauty review. One of my favorite things about them is that they're a clean beauty brand striving for sustainability. You can read more about their mission here.
The items featured today were generously gifted to me by ILIA. This post contains affiliate links that, if you choose to shop through them, will provide me a small commission at no additional cost to you.
True Skin Concealer
Ilia's True Skin Concealer is a great medium-coverage concealer that I use under my eyes & to cover imperfections. I really like the formula-- not super heavy & cakey but not too thin and greasy. It's literally the perfect amount of medium coverage. If you have lids and under eyes that are prone to creasing (like me) I would use a primer or dust a little of their translucent powder over top to set. I am wearing the shade Chicory and also have a darker shade, Lotus, for spring and summer.
Super Serum Skin Tint
If I could only choose five items from all of their products, this would be in my top five. It's basically like skincare and makeup in one, so that saves me time. It's light-coverage, which I love, and SPF 40. The formula leaves a dewy finish, so if that's not your fave make sure to add a little translucent powder on top. It comes in 30 shades. Find it here.
Liquid Light Serum Highlighter
I loveeee this highlighter. Typically I can't bring myself to consistently use one, but this one fits my everyday routine just fine. The gel-based formula is light & buildable and not greasy or too shimmery. I'm using the shade Nova.
Soft Focus Finishing Powder
This translucent powder is the perfect finishing touch, and I love that it gives a blurred look without taking away from the glow of the skin tint. I also used it to set my concealer on my lids to avoid creasing. If you're looking for a good, lightweight finishing powder that isn't cakey, this is the one.
Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint
These shadows are so fun to use. I don't do eyeshadow daily, but when I do I prefer a liquid-to-powder formula like this one. It's very forgiving and versatile in terms of the application process and the amount you want to wear. I did a super-subtle layer, but you could totally layer it or add some winged liner for a more dramatic look. I am wearing the shade Glaze, and I also have Gleam, a shimmery gold. My favorite shade is Hatch, and it's currently on my wish list.
The Multi- Stick
I've said it a million times, I'll say it a million more: this is my favorite beauty purchase of 2020 (and so far 2021). If you don't have money for a million different products, get this one! I have used the shades on my cheeks, lips & eyes often. It is easily buildable, easily blendable, and comes in 8 flattering shades. I purchased the At Last (dusty rose) shade and it's still going strong. I was gifted Dreamer, a warm, peachy nude, and used it for these photos & this video. You can't go wrong with either, IMHO. It is gorgeous and super user-friendly, so treat yourself!
Color Block High Impact Lipstick
Lipstick is one of my favorite makeup essentials, and I typically have multiple lipsticks, chapsticks, liners, and glosses in my bag at once. ILIA's formula is really hydrating, and the pigment is great. I am using the shade Amberlight. Find it here.
Limitless Lash Mascara
I received this mascara as a sample in my Sephora order a few months ago and I loved it immediately. I have been using it daily since. My plan was to buy it in full size before they gifted it, so that was a fun surprise! It is definitely my favorite of all the clean mascaras I've tried. Thrive Causmetics bled under my eyes & VMV Hypoallergenics was way too difficult to remove at night, so I was happy to find this!
Prior to this, I used Dior & Maybelline Full N' Soft or Saie mascara. While I definitely like Maybelline for a budget option & don't have any complaints about Saie, this one from ILIA is my fave. I love the dual-sided wand so much, it both lifts and gives volume, and the color is perfectly dark. No bleeding under my eyes, no irritation, and easy to remove at night at a decent price point make it well worth it. They also offer a mini option if you aren't ready to fully commit! Find both here.
Lip Wrap Hydrating Mask
This little pot has been saving my lips this winter. I add it to my nighttime skincare routine as the final step before I head to bed, and it leaves my lips much more hydrated in the morning. It could easily be tossed in your purse as an on-the-go chapstick alternative, or worn under your lipstick. Find it here.
Brushes Used
In the IGTV video of my ILIA beauty review, I used this brush to apply the translucent powder all over. I used my hands to blend the skin tint in my video, but also have and use their Complexion Brush when I'm looking to do a bit more buffing or to blend in concealer. I love that they are vegan, recyclable, and don't hold onto as much product as a sponge would.
The Final Look
Ok, that's everything I've got for my ILIA beauty review. I love that their products make me feel good in my skin, highlight my natural features without covering them up, and are so simple to use. If you've been looking to incorporate a brand with intentionality, or more clean makeup into your routine, I would definitely suggest trying ILIA. Let me know if there is something you love of theirs I haven't mentioned, or if you have any questions.
Have the best week, y'all.
xo,
Katie
